On June 12, 2020, singer/songwriter and actress Jessica Nicole Brown decided to stop stalling and released her debut EP, “Girl, I Don't Know”. She slowly but surely started to make a name for herself and caught the attention of several magazines. Her EP also got great reviews on its “refreshing perspective of young adulthood”(Atwood Magazine).

Jessica was born in the small rural town of Dalzell, South Carolina. She recalls most of her days of going to school or daycare, then going to her Nana's house; which was, and still is, such a treat for her. “It is definitely a safe house for me,” Jessica says about her Nana's sweet and simple country oasis.

Jessica's sweet mother believes that music was actually Jessica's first love. She always talks about her being in her booster seat singing Lauryn Hill's “That Thing” at the top of her lungs when she was four years old. Jessica obviously didn't know what the song was about, but she knew she liked it.

As she got older, That's So Raven and The Cheetah Girls made their way onto her screen. This made her love for music and performing more apparent to her. This is also when she fell in love with acting. She would perform every song from The Cheetah Girls’ movies as if it was for an audience. Around age 13, she came across an interview of Taylor Swift saying how it is even better when singers can write their own songs. From that day on, she started to practice writing her own songs.

In 2010, Jessica's parents decided to move the family to Chattanooga, Tennessee. The transition was a little rocky at first, but it turned out to be a good thing because she then signed with her first acting agency and got accepted into a foundational performing arts school. The school was just as serious about the academic side as they were about the arts. Jessica credits her time there as one of the main reasons why she is able to juggle many tasks efficiently.

Unfortunately, insecurities and fear led Jessica to take a longer route to her dreams. She used to see it as a waste of her life, but with the help of her mom, she realized that everything happens for a reason. If she had never gone through many ups and downs, she may not have ended up with her current outlook on things; which she is really proud of, but of course, she believes that there is always room to grow.

Jessica took some time off during the extended pandemic and wasn't really sure about what she wanted to share with the world next. Then she decided to take a step back and do some re-evaluating; looking at where she was in all areas of life. She is ready to get even more personal with her art. You’re now on the journey to the doors of a new era.
